Phosphoric Acid Project
AT-PHOS has completed several technical and economic studies related to establishing a world-class world-scale significant merchant grade phosphoric acid (MGA) production Project with an annual production capacity of 500,000 MTPY of P2O5.
The Project shall be located in the Abu Tartour phosphate mine area in the New Valley Governorate. With a sulfur-burning Sulfuric Acid Plant, the Project shall be energy self-sufficient, fulfilling a significant vertical integration element.
Phosphoric Acid Technology Licensor (Prayon Technologies of Belgium) used their Prayon Di-Hydrate mark IV process to produce filter acid that will be further purified using state of the art continuous Ion-Exchange (CIX) unit. This license has been patented and registered by K-Technologies of USA under the name of MER reduction. Pilot Plant Testing succeeded in producing all kinds of phosphate and compound fertilizers, mainly DAP and MAP.
With the CIX technology, the process can provide flexibility to produce Merchant Grade Acid (MGA) matching any industrial uses. The produced merchant grade phosphoric acid is characterized by the lowest suspended solids, no post precipitations, very low heavy metals content, very low radioactivity.
The Complex Facilities will contain two phosphoric acid trains with the associated CIX purification units and one train of Sulfuric acid plant with the associated co-generation plant (Steam Turbines and Electric Generators). Offsites and utilities have been developed to integrate the overall Project, the basic engineering of which has been done by ENPPI and FLUOR.
AT-PHOS has appointed Baker Mackenzie as the legal advisor and AlexBank Intesa Sanpaolo as the project's financial advisor.
AT-PHOS selling strategy is based on delivering its Merchant Grade Phosphoric Acid product Free on Board (FOB) to be ready for export to anywhere in the world.
Time left to Commercial Production
